Are you interested in exploring your educational interests when school is no longer in session? Then you might be a candidate for a pre-college summer program or internship. Keep reading for lists of notable summer programs, many of which are accepting applications now..

What are pre-college summer programs?
Pre-college summer programs allow students to experience different types of university learning, research, and collaboration in small seminars, virtual learning, or in large lecture halls. Some programs are virtual, while others require students to live on college campuses for 1 to 8+ weeks.

When do students apply for these programs?
Program application dates vary. Most program applications are released after the first of the year. However, some programs, such as Vanderbilt Summer Academy, have earlier priority windows.
Are these programs selective?
While we don't recommend attending pre-college summer programs solely to develop college application content, we think that attending selective vs. non-selective programs can show drive and initiative in college applications. Take a look at these more selective summer programs
Regardless of the selectivity, by engaging in summer learning opportunities, students stay sharp and motivated. This keeps the momentum going and sets them up for success in the upcoming school year. We've complied a list of notable non-selective programs here.
What topics are covered in pre-college summer programs?

Pre-college programs are not for all students, and we also love the idea of a traditional summer break (and getting a job!)
