College Board releases four digital adaptive SAT practice tests

Updated: May 23, 2023

The class of 2025 will be the first class solely using the new digital and adaptive SAT. International students will begin using the new format in 2024. If you are interested in taking a diagnostic SAT in the new adaptive format you can register with College Placement Consulting here.

  • The new test will be adaptive and split into two question sets for each subject

  • Performance on the first set in a subject will determine the difficulty of questions in the second set of the same subject

  • More points for more difficult questions. The total scores maximum remains at 1600

The College Board has released 4 full-length adaptive practice tests. Class of 2025 students planning to take the digital SAT now have access to these tests. The benefits of downloading the required Bluebook App and exploring the Test Preview include

  • Familiarizing yourself with the format

  • Practice using on-screen tools such as the digital calculator and on-screen timer

  • Complete a few unscored practice questions

Since the adaptive SAT won't be available to all students until March 2024, students in an advanced SAT timeline will still take the paper SAT until the Spring of Junior year. Check out our standardized test timeline.
