While freshman housing is guaranteed, housing assignments can involve some luck due to the range in dorm convenience and aesthetics. If you are highly interested in certain schools, consider getting those applications in early to earn the strongest dorm selections. Here are two examples:

Clemson University
Clemson's early action deadline is October 15th. However, if a student is accepted and is matriculating to Clemson University, housing priorities are assigned based on deposits AND tiebreakers based on the date the application is submitted. Therefore, get that application in early. If you are still taking the SAT or ACT, you have until November 1 to submit new scores, if they improve your file.
Auburn University
On the Common Application, Auburn University notes the early action deadline as December 1. However, Auburn has multiple early action rounds. If your academic profile and test scores are in good shape and you want to hear back by mid-October, get that application in by early September. Another bonus point is if you hear back early and place a deposit down early, you will be at the front of the line for housing and orientation assignments.
We help students track all deadlines, obvious and nuanced, with most submitting applications two weeks or earlier to ensure all required materials are in and no snafus. Learn more!
