The University of Alabama was founded in 1831 as the state’s flagship university. The campus is in the center of Tuscaloosa which has a population of 95,000 and is located on the Black Warrior River. It showcases a beautiful traditional brick campus with lots of open green space. The University has 200 academic majors, Honors programs, and Freshman Learning/Living communities. Athletics, both varsity and intramural sports are a big part of the school which bring overwhelming school spirit to cheer “The Crimson Tide”. The University of Alabama has a very strong Greek system with 56 fraternities and sororities on campus. It has a state of the art recreation center. The campus is a friendly one exuding southern charm and tradition.
