NC State lies just inside the beltline about 1 mile from downtown Raleigh. This university is known for its strong science programs and occupies 2 campuses – less than 1 mile apart. Most any kind of technical or engineering program can be found here and their new and expanding Centennial Campus is now the home of many of its Engineering programs housed in beautiful brick buildings. Agriculture has always been big here and they have their own school of Veterinarian Medicine. They tend to cross applications with UMD, VT and Ga. Tech. The main campus consists of many brick buildings of various style and size, and though the campus is large, it is easy to walk. Like many NC campuses, a train runs through the middle of it and you can find 3 pedestrian tunnels under the track on campus. Pullen Park boarders one side of the main campus and public transportation allows students to easily get around. It is only about 15 minutes or so from RDU Airport. Many upper classman live off campus in apartment-style housing. NC State is home of the“Wolfpack” and NCAA -D1 athletics.
