Dartmouth College
Hanover, New Hampshire www.dartmouth.edu
Size 4,000+ undergrads / 1,000+ grad students, SAT, SAT-2s or ACT
Tucked away in west central New Hampshire, Dartmouth looks like what you think a true Ivy should; its tree-lined green is surrounded by large historic buildings and emits a feeling of prominence and age. The campus is attractive and quite spacious considering the student population. Main Street in the town of Hanover traverses through the campus offering easy access to the town’s amenities which includes local restaurants and pubs as well as upscale shops. 100% of students live on campus. Of course the requirements of gaining admission to Dartmouth are quite stringent as only about 13% of all applicants are offered admission. Although the social sciences are preferred majors for about 32% of students, Dartmouth does offer Biomedical, Physics and Science Engineering. You will not only find NCAA D-1 athletics at Dartmouth including favorites such as football, lacrosse, ice hockey and basketball, but also less common sport teams such as sailing, equestrian, squash and skiing. Currently, interviews are optional for applicants, but it is certainly our recommendation that if you plan to apply you need to visit first.
